Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Bourbon - Rickhouse Proof.
Being the Rickhouse release, I wanted to feature Floor 4 over 3 to get a bit more of that full flavored experience I wanted in this product. I knew that there needed to be a variation in the March/April BiB and the April Rickhouse, and based on the product availability, this was about as much of a difference I could make. I actually created this batch in the lab at the same time as the March BiB knowing both together would close out the Fall 2017 barrels. So a tradeoff in one changed the barrels for the other. I think the combination that I used really worked well to create two unique bottlings.
This release of Soft Red Rickhouse is for the national release as well as including some product for the United Kingdom opportunity that we had. Because of that, this was a lot of fun and very humbling to put this product together. - Kyle Merklein, Master Distiller.
