"The 2022 vintage of Siepi, marking its 30th anniversary, stands as a testament to the vineyard's legacy, offering vibrant primary fruit and energetic character, while subtly hinting at the classic qualities of celebrated vintages like 2021 and 2019."

We are delighted to present the highly anticipated 2022 vintage of Siepi, from the Mazzei family.

Hailed as one of the 50 wines to have changed Italian wines by Gambero Rosso, Siepi is a terroir driven Super Tuscan with equal parts Sangiovese to Merlot producing the perfect balance between elegance, power, and complexity.

Owned by the Mazzei family since 1435, the Siepi vineyards are located 5km south of Castellina in the heart of the Chianti Classico. Farmed organically, the vines planted were the result of decades of research into the best clones suited to the soils and in the cellar the winemaking team have overseen a stylistic development, creating a wine which is elegant, fruit driven and capable of long ageing.

THE VINTAGE: The 2022 vintage was marked by a mild winter with little rainfall. Spring temperatures began at average levels and gradually increased, allowing the vines to develop evenly and steadily. The combination of higher-than-average temperatures and low rainfall supported a successful flowering and fruit set.

During the summer, early exposure to elevated temperatures caused the grape skins to thicken, providing robust protection as ripening progressed. The low rainfall throughout the growing season contributed to a reduction in overall yield, with the 2022 vintage resulting in a very classic profile, comparable to those of 2021 and 2019.
