Background & Sales Information : Chorus embodies an exciting oenological path from Pomerol to the San Rafael estate, creating a choral song in liquid form, with a Spanish voice and a French accent. It is the result of a meeting between the talent and inquisitive sensitivity of Guillaume Thienpont and the hospitality of Contino.

Chorus is a wine born of many voices in harmony: the land that gives Contino its identity and the oenological vision of Guillaume Thienpont. A journey of departure and return, drawing Rioja and Pomerol together, intertwining two sensibilities to create a powerful, resonant melody.

The origin of Chorus emerges from two trajectories: the San Rafael estate in Rioja Alavesa and the gravel and clay soils of the Pomerol plateau. Chorus is the natural consequence of two visions meeting in the glass: the pursuit of finesse, an intimate reading of the vineyard and the conviction that excellence always springs from a deep, enduring connection with the land.

Chorus reflects the diverse character of the soils and terroirs that coexist at Contino, refined through the mastery of Guillaume Thienpont; a wine in which different cultures, united by time, converge to create something conceived to stand among the great wines of the world.

A small, independent project where decisions are shared and where we all strive to go a little further, Chorus seeks finesse, purity and delicacy of texture, without ever losing the identity of this land. It is about understanding how a philosophy of balance and precision can meet the personality of Tempranillo in a meaningful way.

Vintage 2024: The 2024 vintage was marked by a very balanced growing cycle: a cold winter helped preserve water reserves, while a mild spring with moderate rainfall favoured homogeneous budbreak and optimal vegetative growth.

Summer brought warm daytime temperatures and cool nights, typical of Rioja Alavesa and accentuated by the proximity of the Ebro River, resulting in excellent phenolic ripeness and outstanding natural acidity.

Harvesting was carried out parcel by parcel, only at the precise moment of optimum maturity, from 27 September to 1 October 2024.

“The 2024 Chorus (100% Tempranillo) marks the estate’s first wine of its kind, crafted under the direction of Guillaume Thienpont (Château Le Pin). Twelve months in French oak, 50% new, shaped its élevage. Fresh plum, delicate florals and pomegranate lead the nose, with a refined smoky nuance. On the palate, it is dry, plush and ample, moving with enveloping flow and layered red fruit intensity. Finely integrated oak and the precision of the 2024 vintage lend extra definition to the fruit profile. A modernized interpretation.” - 97pts, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, April 2026.
