Faiveley's Bienvenues parcel, acquired in 2008, became part of the estate at the same time as the neighbouring twin Bâtard-Montrachet. Though both of these Grands Crus share similarities, they each display unique characteristics. The Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet plot lies on flat land, with more marl and wetter soil than its neighbour, which encourages vegetation. The demarcation between these two parcels is delicate, and yet this subtlety is reflected in the wines themselves.
VINEYARD: Area - 0 ha 50 a 57 ca [1,25 Acres], Planting years - 1980, 2018.
TASTING NOTES: The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, white peach, white flowers, fresh mint and wet stones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and dense, tightly wound palate that's satiny but chiseled, with chalky structuring extract and a long, mineral finish - William Kelley, for the Wine Advocate.
