This red wine cask release is an annual release inspired by the finishing of their mature spirit in red wine casks. Each year will bring a different expression of red wine, inspired by the casks they believe best compliment their style. For this the first release they have taken their whisky matured in 1st-fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.
The result is a bright, fruit-forward whisky bursting with summer berries, strawberry shortcake, and sweet vanilla, finishing with spiced biscuits and rich oak. This first edition sets the tone for a vibrant
and evolving series of red wine cask finishes.
Lochlea’s Red Wine Cask expressions will sit alongside the new Single Estate core range of single malts — a permanent collection that reflects their commitment to quality, provenance, and character.
Each expression is crafted from their own barley, distilled and matured entirely on-site in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland.
Nose: Bright fresh pink berries, sweet and floral, some oak and tannins
Taste: Fresh juicy red fruits, particularly berries and cherries, sweet vanilla and almond flavours like
a strawberry shortcake.
Finish: Finishing with rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.

All our wines are stored in our importers bonded warehouse, which have the optimum environment for fine wine storage, by carefully regulating temperature, humidity and other microclimatic factors.
