In Bond’ means the wines have not yet had the duty and VAT paid on them so they must be stored in a bonded warehouse. We use London City Bond warehouse which has been approved for In Bond storage by HM Customs & Excise. This means you can store your wines with us indefinitely without paying duty or VAT.
London City Bond's climate-controlled warehouse will protect your wine from changes in temperature, humidity, light and movement. This allows your wine to mature in optimum conditions. Every case of wine that comes into the warehouse is checked, ensuring quality and provenance. All wines and spirits that are stored In Bond with us are insured at replacement value. By storing your wine In Bond you are able to defer the payment of VAT and duty to when you do want to withdraw the case.
The majority of our wines can be bought In Bond. They must be unmixed cases, which are usually 6 or 12 bottles, 24 half bottles or 3 or 6 magnums. In Bond prices do not include UK duty or VAT and can only be delivered to a UK address once these taxes have been paid. If you buy In Bond wines for delivery outside the UK then you will not have to pay UK duty or VAT but local taxes may apply in the destination country. If you buy wine that’s stored elsewhere In Bond, you can choose to have it transferred to our warehouse without paying any duty or VAT, subject to an inspection. You can browse wines to buy In Bond or for delivery direct from Primitus Fine Wines.
You can choose to have your In Bond wine delivered to you at any time. We can provide delivery to the UK. You will need to pay the duty and VAT on any wines you withdraw. VAT is payable on the original purchase price of the wine not its current market value. It can take up to 2 additional working days to process your request to deliver your wine. During peak times (for instance Christmas) this can take longer but we will communicate this in advance. See more information on UK deliveries and international deliveries.
