Château de Ricaud Loupiac confirms its reputation as the gold standard in Loupiac wines. It is no coincidence that journalists in the 50s affectionately referred to this wine as the “Yquem of the Right Bank”. Château de Ricaud Loupiac is light in style, offering delicious flavours of laser-precision. Freshness is the key word in a wine where sweetness and acidity are in perfect harmony, and that culminates in a long and lingering finish.

TASTING NOTES: Lovely golden hue. On the nose, aromas of quince, pineapple and dried apricots intermingle in perfect harmony. The wine is generous on the palate, while the acidity levels balance beautifully with the rich, sweetness. The freshness lingers on the lovely, full-flavoured and perfumed finish.

THE VINTAGE: Winter was extremely mild and favoured early budburst and very rapid growth in the vine, followed by good and even bunch set. Frost at the end of April spared the estate’s white grape varieties, which continued to develop well approximately 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Flowering was quick and even in the dry, sunny May weather.

Summer, particularly August, will be remembered for hot days (but not too hot) and cool, damp nights, with the contrast promoting freshness and balance in the bunches during very early ripening.

Harvest takes place when the required level of “noble rot” is reached. In 2017, they were spread over three weeks. We picked in three successive sortings, between September 26 and October 9.
