Chateau Hosanna 2000.
Château Hosanna combines the depth and complexity of the great Pomerols with a unique elegance. Historically, the southern portion of the terrace of Pomerol was a “lieu dit” (locality) called “Certan.” The three neighboring properties were named after this locale when they were developed: Vieux Château Certan, Château Certan de May and Château Certan Giraud. Château Certan Giraud was the least well-known of the three. Christian Moueix, of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, understood the great potential of this yet unknown parcel and purchased the property in early 1999.
Dense ruby/purple, with a glorious nose of blackberries, cassis, white flowers, licorice, and a hint of sweet oak, this seamless wine is a classic example of purity and symmetry. Combining power with charm and finesse in a deeply textured, rich, elegant, yet authoritatively flavorful style, this is a brilliant effort as well as a compliment to proprietor Christian Moueix. Sadly, there are only 1,500 cases of this fabulous offering. It displays a singular style reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of Cheval Blanc and L'Evangile, the famous St.-Emilion and equally renowned Pomerol situated across from each other -Reviewed by: Robert M. Parker, Jr.
