Mas Martinet
When Sara Perez talks about her wines, you can’t help but listen. She is one of those infectious personalities who manages to explain terroir—the unique combination of soil, climate, and landscape that shapes a wine’s character—in ways that are abstract yet wholly understandable.
Her passion for the vineyards she works with is not only palpable but visible. She gestures animatedly, her arms sweeping through the air and her shoulders curling inward as she speaks, drawing everyone in with her intensity; it’s utterly mesmerizing.
Her excitement is contagious; you find yourself eager to taste the wines she describes, feeling as if you too are part of the vineyard's story. You understand exactly what she means when she throws her arms up like a spring bursting from the earth and says —the amphora being a traditional clay vessel used in winemaking that imparts unique qualities to the wine. And when she hunches her shoulders and furrows her arms to the earth, saying , you get it too, appreciating how the use of wooden barrels adds depth and warmth to the wine’s character.
