Winemaking: Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for 22–26 days at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation and aging in wood of various sizes (barriques, tonneaux, and small barrels) for 14–18 months, then in bottle for a few months before release.
Characteristics: This is a very special Barbaresco, one I would dare say unique, as the very old vineyard hosts sub-varieties of Nebbiolo and very different and unusual natural crosses. The resulting wine is the expression of a Barbaresco of the past, discreet in its intensity of aroma and structure yet extremely elegant and refined, complex and persistent on the palate. The bouquet reveals hints of violet, rose petals, licorice, and sweet tobacco, blended together, along with present yet gentle tannins, creating a balance of elegance and pleasantness.
