Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the five villages of the Côte de Blancs. Premier Cru vineyards face east and southeast, and the Chardonnay grapes are grown in soils of brown clay and limestone. Abbaye de Morgeot is situated in the south of the commune, in the area of an old abbey. The wine is fermented in oak barrels, and then matured in barrel for 12 to 15 months before bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Full-bodied and rich, this wine develops aromas of white fruit, white flowers and honey. It will develop for 10 to 15 years in the bottle.
One of the standouts of the range is the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot (Domaine Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless wine evocative of pear, orange oil and pastry cream. Bright and chalky, it's beautifully balanced and built to age - William Kelley.
