Louis Jadot Corton Greves Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) 2019.
In the commune of Aloxe-Corton, in the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, more than half of the vineyard area is Grand Cru vineyards. Les Grèves is a powerful wine with a structure similar to that of Côte de Nuits wines. The southeast exposure and siliceous soil gives power and delicacy to the wine. Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, then the wine is matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Mingling aromas of sweet berry fruit and plums with hints of raw cocoa, warm spices and orange rind, the 2019 Corton Grèves Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, rich and chalky, with fine concentration and a youthfully tightly wound profile. This is promising, but it will require a bit of patience - William Kelley.
