Sorì Paitin is based on a historic massal selection planted by Secondo Pasquero Elia between 1948 and 1953. This old-vine material gives the wine notable depth and site definition, positioning it as one of the estate’s most serious and age-worthy expressions of Nebbiolo.
Owned by the Pasquero-Elia family since 1796, Sorì Paitin comes from the warmest slope of Serraboella, a long-established Nebbiolo site. Its soil profile and exposition contribute concentration, structure, and a clearly defined cru character, making it a strong proposition for merchants, sommeliers, and collectors looking for traditional Barbaresco with depth, provenance, and cellar potential.
"The Paitin 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Sorì Paitin Vecchie Vigne is the outlier in this group of new releases. The warm vintage has produced soft and more concentrated fruit with greater textural weight on the finish. That vintage difference, and perhaps the advanced age of the vines, makes for a bigger and broader approach, and some of those vivid high notes that we saw in the 2016 vintage are replaced here by ripe fruit, plum and iron ore.
