The nose is a restrained but pure expression of the Pira vineyard, with immediate mineral and earthy characteristics. Dense and bold in texture, the freshness is pure and vibrant. Sandy tannins bring a bitter, umami flavour. Tasted end of August 2023, bottled in July 2023, and still slightly masked by the bottling.
“The 2018 Barolo Pira is bright, focused and linear. A bit light and nervy, as wines are in this vintage, but also expressive. Tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and chamomile all grace this taut, nervy Barolo Pira. This is an especially ethereal Barolo.
