Trinidad Rum Silver Seal 18 Year Old Single Cask.
Distilled in 2000 by Trinidad Limited Distillery, this rum was bottled in Scotland in 2018 by the Italian trading house Silver Seal.
Only 297 copies were made from this barrel no. R1462.
The nose is relatively light in the first moments, with a simple film of vanilla and sour sugar syrup. Some yellow fruits still a little pale try to make a breakthrough, accompanied by a red fruit candy.
The aeration reveals a little tarry, coppery side, as well as a light herbal juice like basil or even coriander. The vanilla then takes us back to a more classic profile, now enriched with a slightly smoky caramel.
On the palate, it is the smoky, almost peaty side that expresses itself, as in a Scottish single malt. The straw of the cane is on fire, and lets its vanilla flavours, caramelised nuts and dried exotic fruits burn.
The finish is more gently smoky, rather coppery and bursting with guava paste.
"A complex rum that takes on the appearance of a light, smoky whisky..."
