The 2020 vintage is the inaugural blend of Syrah and Grenache from some of the highest, steepest blocks at Bien Nacido Vineyard and Mourvedre from a half-acre block tucked away and hidden from the prevailing wind in some heavier clay soils where it can get ripe. 'Succession' pays homage to the 4th generation of the Miller Family in California.
The 2020 Succession Reserve is a new wine from Bien Nacido and the first time the team has worked with Mourvèdre (there is just half an acre planted on the estate). A blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache, it has intense aromas of blackcurrants and cherries, violets, tar and pepper, plus savory accents of charcuterie and olive that come through with time in the glass.
