Gevrey-Chambertin is located to the North of Côte de Nuits. It possesses 26 premiers crus and 9 grands crus. Half of the Premiers Crus surrounds the grands Crus (near Morey Saint-denis). The other half is located to the North in the Combe de Lavaux on a calcareous and clayish soil with quite a great deal of marls.
VINEYARD INFORMATION: The Clos Saint Jacques vineyard is located at the beginning of the valley called Combe de lavaux. It is very nicely South-East oriented. There are only five owners of this prestigious Clos, which may have deserved the Grand Cru Appellation when the first official classification was decided.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION: Destemmed grapes ferment in vats during 3 to 4 weeks. Aging takes place in oak barrels produced by the CADUS cooperage during 18 months.
WINE SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-17.
AGING POTENTIAL: 20 years and more.
