Ramos Pinto 30 Year Old Tawny Port.
Quinta de Ervamoira is located in the Douro Demarcated Region, Douro Superior sub-region. It has a total area of 223 hectares ranging from 110 to 340 metres in altitude. The Quinta’s vineyards are exclusively planted vertically (with no need of terraces), in fields, with native grape varieties introduced by Ramos Pinto in the 1980s: white (e.g.: Rabigato, Viosinho, Folgazão) and red (e.g.: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta da Barca).
The soil at Quinta de Ervamoira is part of the Ante-Ordovician Schist and Greywacke Complex and in this homogeneous geological context Quinta de Ervamoira’s uniqueness lies in the amphitheatre layout of its setting.
The Mediterranean/Continental climate of this Quinta is expressed in cold winters and hot dry summers, with average annual rainfall of 300 millimetres.
The grapes at Quinta de Ervamoira produce full-bodied, highly concentrated wines.
THE WINE: This tawny is a blend with an average age of 10 years. We are entering the complex world of aged Tawnies. lt's body and rich flavour transport us to the place where it was created, the Quinta de Ervamoira. It is in this mystical, biblical landscape that the wine is extracted from the schist, from the silence, for our enjoyment.
VINIFICATION: Made from high-quality wines of the Quinta de Ervamoira by blending harvests of different years. The new wines make it robust and fresh while the oldest wines give it complexity and "lineage". Its characteristic aroma and palate are the result of the artistry achieved across generations.
TASTING NOTES: Orange-red colour, with a greenish touch. Rounded, generous aroma, with a slight vinous and balanced touch. Aromas of fruit, such as orange, apricot, and plum, and of vanilla and old port cask. It is the fruity kind of tawny. In the mouth, fresh fruit IS still perceptible, good structure and perfect balance between fruit and alcohol, finishing with a slight fresh note.
GASTRONOMY: Pairs with game, cheese soufflé, Serra or other fatty cheeses, and to any chocolate desserts.
